We gathered for the Commonwealth themed night all about friendship.

First we learnt about a maternity hospital in Nigeria. The West church in Banchory are trying to raise money to build a new maternity hospital in this part of Nigeria. They are in desperate need for this new hospital, the old “hospital” has no proper equipment and rooms. This will help the local women have a nicer place to have their babies and keep them safer.  We learnt that it is important to see how people live in other parts of the world and that we need to help them.

We then had a challenge to get across the room on some boxes and with some poles. We had the “Queen’s baton” with us and we had to keep it safe and not let it fall on the floor. We had to make sure that our whole group got across safely, which meant we had to work as a team.

We then learnt how to make friendship knot with our neckies. We had an instruction sheet to help us and we had our friends to help us if we did not understand or could not do it.

We then learnt how to make friendship loom bands, we made them together. You can make them for a friend and trade them, this is a sign of friendship. We could make them and then sell them for charity.
